Heckler & Koch USP 45 – Modeled with Fusion 360

I've been hearing interesting things about hard surface modeling using a CAD tool called Fusion 360 and decided to give it a try. I'm half way through a 30 day trial, and I can report that it is definitely worth looking into if you enjoy hard surface modeling. It can handle tasks like adding editable chamfers or fillets along curved edges, flawless Boolean operations, and much more - all completely non destructively. Each feature is editable for the entire duration of the project.

Once you're done, you can easily export a flawless STL file for use in your 3D application of choice. It's not going to replace Zbrush for a lot modeling tasks, including some styles of hard surface work, but for anything you could mill or lathe or press, it's incredible. In addition to being super easy to learn, its free for a year for hobbyists.

This model was retopped in zbrush, baked in xnormal, textured with Quixel Suite, and rendered with Marmoset. Feel free to ask questions about the process, and thanks for checking it out!
